How cute is this shirt? I love the idea of taking something that you already own (or will soon) and jazzing it up a little bit, making it all your own. And what easier way than with just a little bit of silk ribbon?

One of the books that I recently got out of the library, Sew Stylish, had this cute little idea in it. While the book didn't have too many fabulous ideas that I just had to try, I thought this one was an easy and simple way to add a touch of fun and coziness to a room that's calling out for a little help.
In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, it might be a perfect present for someone else as well - my mother-in-law, in fact.

While losing myself in Barnes and Noble last week for a few hours, I stumbled upon a book full of cross-stitch patterns and ideas for great gift and household ideas that included cross stitchery. And while I'm seriously considering buying the book, in the mean time, it gave me a fabulous idea:
I'm going to make my grandmother some cross stitched placemats for Christmas.
Problem is that I have no idea what kind of pattern to use.

Here's an easy project that'll add a little something to your kitchen. Use scrap fabrics or go on a hunt for something to match your kitchen, but use your imagination! And feel free to create your own pattern as well.
